When it comes to welding black steel, or CO2 welding as it is called colloquially, we have high capacity. We offer TIG, MIG/MAG, CMT, spot and stud welding.

We always choose the welding method based on the individual workpiece, as well as any needs and requirements you might have as a customer – as this helps give the best result.

MIG/MAG welding is short for Metal Inert Gas or Metal Active Gas welding. That is, the shielding gas determines whether the welding performed is of the MIG or MAG variety. Colloquially, the process is often referred to simply as CO2 welding.

In MIG/MAG welding, an arc is created between the workpiece and the added material, which is continuously fed from a spool. The filler material thus acts as an electrode.

The choice of shielding gas is made based on the material to be welded, as well as the filler material used in the weld. The consumption of shielding gas is 10-20 l/min, mainly depending on the arc shape welded with (short arc or spray arc).

The MIG/MAG process is the most widely used welding process in manual welding, automated welding and robotic welding.

CMT (Cold Metal Transfer) welding is known for, among other things, having a higher welding speed, increased productivity and a better groove superstructure than one experiences with other weld types. CMT welding takes advantage of a lesser heat impact on the workpiece, while the welds are done with less weld spatter. Therefore, it is a welding method which can be advantageously used for thin sheet welding.

TIG stands for Tungsten Inert Gas and is typically used for welding thin materials.

TIG welding offers good quality, as very little or no weld spatter is formed during welding. TIG welding can be performed on black steel, stainless steel and aluminium, making the method incredibly versatile.

TIG welding gives a special visual result, as the weld is smaller. TIG welding makes it possible to fuse the material of two workpieces together, without filler metal (welding wire). The welding process does not have as large an output as CO2 welding does.

Stud welding is a welding method that has been developed for the welding of bolts and pins. Hosta Industries welds from M4 – M12.

Stud welding requires a stud welding machine and welding bolts/pins. With an ultra-short, high current pulse, a specially shaped tip is melted onto the bolt between the sheet material and the bolt, thus welding the bolt into place. Stud welding requires no perforation/laser cutting of holes or other formations in the workpiece.

Spot welding is a method frequently used in the automotive industry for welding together two plates, where the surfaces are placed against each other. The welding process is also used in many other places and, among other things, Hosta Industries welds parts for woodburning stoves using this process.

Copper electrodes are used, which can be specifically designed for the job. The electrodes are pressed against the sheet material, and a high current pulse is introduced for a short time. As a result, the sheet materials are melted together. Among other things, the method is suitable for materials such as aluminium, zinc, hot-dip galvanised steel and steel plates.
